And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory…John 1:14
During this holiday season we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What a gift to mankind, when He, the Word, came and dwelt among us! What a gift to us as believers that He now dwells within us! And what a gift His “Written Word” is to all who desire to learn more of His ways and precious promises! It is with immeasurable joy that we are placing the written Word of God into the hands of the many Tzotzil and Chamula Indian believers in the state of Chiapas who have never had the privilege of holding their own Bible. We have reached more than half of our goal this year alone and will continue to give a Bible to each household of our congregations in the highlands.
We thank the many individuals and churches who have taken this effort to heart and have given financially to make it and other projects possible. A special thanks to those who have gone to Chiapas and helped us deliver the Bibles personally or built a church where others can go to find God and worship Him. To the many who left good jobs here in the states to mix cement by hand, weld metal roofs, paint churches, and build benches, etc., we so appreciate your kind hearts and strong backs to help those in need. Throughout the year Dr. Jim Nichols organized several medical teams that gave of their services so generously. What compassion that flowed from each of you! Thank you for your long hours and amazing ability to keep going. To those who helped with youth and women’s conferences, we say thank you for touching the lives of those God sent our way and for working so hard to help host the events. To the teams of people who camped out in tents, bathed in the river, cooked on open fires with us, and dwelt among the people for those days in the rain in order to bless someone you had never met before, we say thanks. And to the many who are not able to physically go, but yet you care so much and support the work with your prayers and finances, we cannot thank you enough.
Yes, it was a very busy year, but one of the best! For almost 20 years we have worked along side Larry and Mary Lou Myers under Mexico Ministries. We will continue to work along side Larry and Mary Lou Myers, but we have officially organized Mexico Outreach, which will carry the same vision and purpose for the work in Mexico. The timing of the Lord is so perfect. We were able to spend much of the year with the work in the mountains while Larry has had to devote a major portion of his year to the construction of the large church in Tuxtla. We thank the Myers for their leadership and mentoring and pray that God gives us many more years together.
Our prayers are not only for our dear friends of Chiapas, but also for you and your families. May you know the One that we are celebrating this season and that The Word will not only be visible on the written page but that He will dwell and live within you! Merry Christmas and have a very blessed New Year!
