2005 Christmas Newsletter
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
John 10:11 "I am the good shepherd and the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep." We have never received a greater gift than that of eternal life through Christ who came to earth as a babe but laid down his life for us as the Good Shepherd. Spreading this message of good tidings is our purpose for spending many days each year in the country of Mexico.
John 10:27 "My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me." Little Larry and Paolita joined us in a visit with Maria, a shepherdess from Chenalho. That visit was filled with laughter and enjoyment, but it was Maria's voice that the sheep knew and followed.
Many of you heard the Good Shepherd's voice this past year. Answering that call brought new and adventrous experiences, as well as familiar ones. You gave medical care to those who were sick and in desperate need of a physician or dentist. Sometimes you even rode on horseback to remote villages to reach the needy. Others followed His voice and brought tools and muscle power to build churches for those who had no building in which to worship. In 2005, 10 churches were completed with plaster, doors, windows and paint jobs and 4 new churches were constructed through your giving to Mexico Outreach. 5 roofs were installed on churches as well.
Some of you heard Him speak and joined us in pastoral, youth or women's conferences where we have seen many encouraged in their own walk to follow the Shepherd's voice and in some cases lives were completely transformed. Hearing His voice and following the Good Shepherd often means giving of your finances and of your time. Listening to His call to pray for others while "they go" is the very foundation of all that is done in the Good Shepherd's name. Many received bibles for the first time, blankets, clothing, toys, or other provisions due to your obedience.
At the close of this another wonderful year in the work of spreading "Good Tidings," we thank you once again. We cannot go and do His work without you. Many needs would have gone unaddressed without your help. We thank God for His health and provision all year long.
In a year when so many have suffered great loss - both here in the U.S. and in Mexico, we hold on to the promises of the Good Shepherd. With grateful hearts, we pray for you this Christmas, asking God to fill you with His joy, peace and the hope of His promises.
