Rayne Abundant Life

We have recently hosted a 9 member team from Abundant Life Church in Rayne, LA. Due to the fact that this team always has professional welders with them, roof jobs have been the main focus of the construction work. This trip was no exception and what perfect timing their arrival was since the clinic house in Chenalho was ready for their expertise.
Our Mexican physician, known to all of us as Dr. Lulu, has to use a vacant room in the clinic as her personal quarters. It provides shelter, but has no accommodations for an overnight stay. She has so willingly served the people of the highlands every Friday and Saturday for the last several years. She either has to leave her family behind in Tuxtla or bring them with her to a facility that has no accommodations for them. We feel that God is addressing this need and she and her family will soon have adequate housing during their work days in Chenalho. The house is designed to accommodate other visiting medical professionals as well. The project began with a $500 contribution from a doctor in Houston, and we thank him for planting the seed. We have enjoyed watching it grow!
Betty, Jeanna, Mel and Zenetta helped repaint the kitchen, dining and living area of the missions facility. All of the teams coming in this summer and fall will appreciate the hard work of these ladies. Everything is clean and looks so much better. Betty scrubbed the stove and the floor of the kitchen and dining area on her hands and knees. You may want to take your shoes off to enter. The place has been transformed! It was a major spring cleaning!
It never fails to rain when Rayne comes to town, but it rains no matter who is in town since we are located so close to the rain forest. We thank God for giving mornings of good weather and the guys were able to get the job done in spite of it being the rainy season. Thank you Ben, Clay, Doug, John and Tod.
You came bearing an abundance of gifts for the people. We will be able to incorporate them in our week of Bible School, conferences, etc. Thanks again!
It was a special treat as well to be joined by our new and dear friend Barbara. God continues to amaze us with His ways and goodness. Barbara lives in Tuxtla now and speaks fluent Spanish, English and several other languages. She was such a little worker all week as we hosted the Rayne group and her knowledge of the history and culture of the area was most helpful to us. Barbara, you are such a blessing to us personally! We thank God for you!
Our prayers are with Pastor Finley as he faces another knee surgery this month. We missed you this year, but we pray that all will go well, that your recover will be quick and that you will join us again soon!
