LEADNOW JANUARY 5-13

LEADNOW had an interesting trip - first of all the drive to the work location, but then the one hour climb up a mountain on a foot path to reach the village of Iviltic. This small village is in the municipality of San Juan Cancuc among the Tzetal Indians. The team assisted the people of the local church to construct a block building. They were able to erect the roof, pour the cement floor, paint the building and build benches.
I admired the way each evening the students spent 2 hours of singing, sharing testimonies, devotions and reflecting on what they experienced that day. The team from LEADNOW was made up of college students from Texas A&M and UT-Austin. What a great group! You can read more about this marvelous organization on one of our past updates posted as Leadnow August 12-19, 2006 and on their website www.leadnow.org.
We thank the leadership for the heart they have for missions work in Mexico. We enjoyed being with old friends and meeting some great new one! During free time, the students enjoyed a little sightseeing that is always very interesting in the state of Chiapas.
Also, special thanks to some of our dear Mexican helpers - to Barbara for your labor of love with the grocery shopping and cooking, and to Raul for taking on many extra responsibilities helping with the team and doing such a great job!
