JANUARY-FEBRUARY UPDATE 2007

"I must be about My Father's business." Luke 2:49

Even as a child, Jesus was about His Father's business. Every year as was customary, His family went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. As His parents traveled home and realized that Jesus was not with them, they returned to Jerusalem and found Him among the teachers in the temple. His reply to His parents was, "...I must be about My Fathers business."
Daily, each of us have a responsibility of being about the business of our Father - sharing the love of God with acquaintances that we meet, serving in our communities, churches, the mission field, etc.

With an immediate return to Mexico the first week of January 2007, our year began with a busy schedule for the work of the Lord. A group of young people from the organization LEADNOW traveled to Chiapas during their semester break to build a church in the village of Iviltic. Meanwhile, Pastor Carlos brought 2 more patients from Chiapas to Atoyac for surgery during the week of the January medical campaign. Construction is being finalized on the medical housing in Chenalho and ground breaking is taking place on the construction site for the new church in the city of San Fernando - a large building that will seat nearly 400. In addition, during the month of February, the roof is being put on the church in a mountain village near Constitution with Pastor Antonio and all the pastors and leaders are meeting this week in Chenalho for continued studies of God's Word. We have been about the Father's business, and we thank each one of you who help us make it possible!

"I must be about My Father's business"

Sometimes the Father's business means a change in schedule. I experienced just that and returned back to the states earlier than planned due to a health issue. I know that God directs our steps, and I was seated next to a young Mexican women and her son Arturo on the flight home. Arturo and his father had been in an explosion that killed his dad and burnt the child severely. Now, Arturo was on his way to Houston for an operation. God allowed me to talk to this mother about Jesus Christ and how He knew the difficulties of their life - how much He loves and cares for them. Then I had the opportunity to pray with them. How appreciative they were! Even during the times that are not on what would be our schedule, these plans are on the Father's agenda, and we have the opportunity to be about His business.

We presently have now filled the calendar for 2007 with construction and medical teams and conventions. I have been in the business world and felt the heavy responsibility for the financial load and cares for the business. One thing about the Father's business is that it is not my load or my burden to carry. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. (Matt. 11:30) Therefore, we must make ourselves available to be servants and to be used of God by what He brings to us on a daily bases allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us. The needs are great for more churches, Bibles and help for the pastors, but we know our strength lies in the Lord and that He is faithful.

We thank God for each of you! May you be strengthened by His love for you today to be about the Father's business!
Russell
