JULY-AUGUST 2007 UPDATE
I TIMOTHY 4:12 “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
All summer we have been involved with youth activities in Chiapas. God cares for the youth of every nation. We host many different youth groups from the states which allow them to experience the world here in Chiapas. The youth of Mexico have many of the same needs and challenges as our young people in the US. What an opportunity we have to change their lives and their world for God! .
Youth must first bond with their own team and come prepared with a servant’s heart. Often young people tell us they have experienced such a wonderful devotion time alone with God in the early morning hours here in the mountain setting of Chiapas. We also hear many say it has been the best week in their entire life.
God works in all of our lives in such a variety of ways. Sometimes the physical challenge of reaching construction sites and working along side the people of a local village helps our youth in their commitment to do a job of excellence as unto the Lord. Also, because of the language barriers with English, Spanish and Tzotzil, youth are always ready for the challenge of competition in sports events. Youth provide great excitement in our churches.
In July we had the annual youth convention with 3 US youth groups. The conference was held in the cities of San Fernando and Tuxtla. Also present were youth from various states and many different communities of Chiapas. It is always so special to have the different cultures united together. Even the cultures in Chiapas from Indian to Mexican are so different, but the youth were all one in Christ.

Each group came with special songs, dramas or dance teams. We thank our son Jordan for preaching the evening services and Steven and Megan Bowen for the morning sessions. The time spent seeking God around the alters of the church each evening was very special.
Praise Report: Dedication of the clinic house on July 30. Funds were provided for roof of church in San Fernando.
Special Needs: 1) Funds to pour cement floor, plaster walls and purchase windows and doors for San Fernando church. 2) Two computers with Spanish keyboards needed for leaders in Chenalho.
Our hearts are saddened at the news of losing 2 dear friends this past July - Whitney Langley of FL and Pete Foley of TX. They both touched the hearts of so many here in Mexico. This will be missed! Our prayers are with their families.
This summer has been very busy and challenging with church construction projects, youth convention and medical campaigns but the Lord gives strength to accomplish His purposes. We appreciate your continued prayers and faithful giving.
