The group consisted of 9 medical people including Dr. Loues Okoro and 4 nurses. The medical team had the opportunity to consult with 465 patients in a 4 day period visiting Yabteclum, Chalchihuitan, Pueblo, Takiukum and Rancheria Sinai. Free medicine and eye glasses were prescribed from donations to Mexico Outreach and from those of Macon and other individuals.
The construction team consisted of 10 men including Phillip Latolias from the Lafayette, LA area. A church was built in the city of Yabteclum. The team constructed the metal roof, pour the cement floor, made 24 benches and painted the interior and exterior of the church. A case of Tzotzil Bibles were given to the local church. The construction team also helped put up a new metal roof on a classroom and kitchen at the church in Palestina near San Cristobal de las Casas.
The group enjoyed many evenings of singing and devotion time and also celebrating the birthday of Pastor Alejandro on June 15. We concluded the week by having a fun day of taking the boat ride through the Canyon Sumidero in Chiapas de Corzo.
Six different nations were represented by these team members - Nigeria, Kenya, Jamaica, Philippines, India and the US. Many lives were touched through the medical team and there were many additional opportunities for the team to pray with people for various physical needs that only God could meet. The construction team left behind a beautiful church building in the village of Yabteclum to the Glory of God.
